The battery has a housing, a hood (1), cells in the housing and at least one opening (2) to allow gases to escape in which a frit (3) to protect against arc-back is inserted. In front of this frit is a baffle (12) and in front of the baffle is an antechamber (17). The frit is located in a filter chamber (15). Either or both chambers are formed by a housing (4) protecting against arc-back. The baffle has one or more openings near the top. The frit and the protective housing are fixed in the openings. The protective housing is glued to the hood and also mechanically locked to it with a beaded edge fitting inside a groove on the hood.
