PURPOSE: The use of melatonin or a melatoninergic ligand in pharmaceutical compositions for the prevention and/or treatment of gastrointestinal disorders is provided. Whereby, melatonin or melatoninergic ligand can change gastrointestinal motor activity and the compound by this method can be used in gastrointestinal motor disorders by a clinician. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition contains melatonin, one or more agonists, a melatoninergic ligand of antagonists and one or more pharmaceutical excipients for the prevention and/or treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. The composition also contains N-£2-(5-ethyl-1-benzothiophene-3-yl)ethyl|acetamide.
