PURPOSE: To simply form the operation member of a multi-direction switch for operating a cellular phone or a television camera with a single part, not a composite part, and prevent a plurality of switch contact points from being concurrently closed to cause a malfunction when the central section or peripheral section of the operation member is pushed. CONSTITUTION: A plunger 25 with cross-shaped arms is used as an operation member, and a hemispherical section 26 is splittingly formed between the arms. A press section 27 is provided on a case 21, and a spherical bearing is formed with a spherical seat 27a on the lower face of the press section 27 and the hemispherical section 26. Lugs 30, 31 pushing contact springs 29 are provided at the center of the plunger 25 and on the lower faces of the tips of the arms, and gaps larger than the gap at the center are provided between the lugs 31 at the tips of the arms and the contact springs 29. A multi-direction switch, which has a very simple structure, is thin and small-sized, allows only a corresponding switch contact point to be operated when the center of the plunger 25 or a tip of an arm is pushed, and causes no malfunction, can be obtained.
