PURPOSE: An elevator load detecting device is provided to improve the accuracy of load detection in an elevator by installing strain gauges at the part generating the largest quantity of elastic transformation. CONSTITUTION: In an elevator including a car frame connected with a lope and a cage installed within the inside of the car frame for carrying passengers, an elevator load detecting device includes a module base(14) fixed on the upper surface of a cross head(12a) of the car frame for firstly amplifying the tensile elastic transformation generated in the cross head when the passengers get on the cage, a gauge fixing plate(16) installed on the upper surface of the module base for secondly amplifying the quantity of transformation amplified at the module base, and many strain gauges(17) installed on the upper surface of the gauge fixing plate for detecting the quantity of transformation secondly amplified at the gauge fixing plate.
