The invention concerns a method which consists in: precipitating (in 5) the phosphorus contained in the effluent; pressing (in 7) the sludge resulting from the precipitation; and sending (in 60) the liquid resulting from pressing to a purification station; and evacuating the filtration cake. The invention is useful for the bactericidal treatment of bird carcasses (2) with a trisodium phosphate solution.
