PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a coin operated telephone set where coins are received on the basis of a charging signal from a line to a line where the charging signal cannot be transmitted. SOLUTION: This line adapter 1 is provided between the coin-operated telephone set 3 and an NCC line 2 where the charging signal cannot be transmitted, and the adapter 1 outputs a coin housing signal (charging signal) to the set 3, when the set 3 transmits the number of the opposite side and the response of the opposite side to this transmission is detected. That is, the adapter 1 is provided with a CPU 11A, a polarity-inverting circuit 18, a table 14A, a timer 11A, etc., and the CPU sets a unit speech communication period corresponding to a number in the table, which matches with the opposite side number transmitted by the telephone set in the timer, generates a coin-receiving signal from the polarity inverting circuit and also starts the timer when the CPU detects an opposite response, and subsequently generates a coin-receiving signal from the polarity inverting circuit each time the time up of the timer comes.
