PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical mark reader which can read a mark on a slip where guide characters are printed in multiple colors or black. SOLUTION: The picture of an unfilled slip 1A, which is read by a reading part 10 and is stored in an image memory 20, is cut by a cutting part 30 at every mark filling area. A feature registration part 50 extracts feature data (the number of black dots, for example) at every mark filling area and they are registered in a feature registration file 60. The picture of a filled slip 1B, which is stored in the image memory 20, is cut at every mark filling area and a feature extraction part 70 extracts feature data and is given to a mark judgment part 80. The mark judgment part 80 compares feature data of the filled slip 1B with feature data of the unfilled slip 1A, which is registered in the feature registration file 60. When they are not matched, the mark is judged to be filled. |
