PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a character written on a color area is not extracted as an image area separation result, since the whole area is extracted by dot concerning the character which is written on the color area such as blue by which the dot is extracted, etc., in image area separation. SOLUTION: A foreground is separated from a background by a binarizing part 11 first concerning input image data and a processing is executed to extract the segment of a width for the portion of prescribed pixels by a segment- extracting part 12. A label part 13 gives the same label to the connected pixels adopted as the foreground in the binarizing part 11, an image feature amount is calculate by a label feature amount calculating part 14 at every label area to which the same label is given and the attribute of the label area is determined by a first attribute determining part 16 from the label feature amount at every label area. Then the segment extracted by the segment extracting part 12 is corrected in a segmentcorrecting part 17 through the use of an attribute determination result by the first attribute determining part 16 at every label area labelled by the labelling part 13. |
