PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the transmission time of picture data with the same data transmission speed in picture transmission equipment, especially, an interphone device. SOLUTION: A picture taken in by a camera 13 of an entrance slave machine 12 is subjected to digital video conversion by an encoder 21 and is compressed by JPEG, MPEG, or the like in a picture compression processing part 22. Compressed picture data is multiplexed with a voice signal in time division by a terminal machine 26 for transmission and reception and is transmitted. Picture data received by a terminal machine 29 for transmission and reception of a kitchen remote controller 2 is separated from the voice signal by the terminal machine 29 and is expanded (decompressed) by a picture expansion processing part 31 and is analogically converted to a video signal by a decoder 34.
