PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air separator excellent in view point of cold heat recovery in which waste liquid can be evaporated in safety. SOLUTION: The air separator comprises an air compressor for compressing the air taken in externally, a main heat exchanger 11 for cooling material air compressed by the air compressor, and an evaporator 9 for evaporating waste liquid containing hydrocarbons generated in the apparatus. The material air cooled by the main heat exchanger 11 is introduced entirely or partially into the waste liquid evaporator 9 where it is heat exchanged with waste liquid containing hydrocarbons thus evaporating the waste liquid containing hydrocarbons. Resulting gas is introduced into the main heat exchanger 11 and heated up to the normal temperature through heat exchange with material gas.
