PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a checking work to be easily performed by detecting and also displaying in which display panel the faulty light emitting element of a LED or the like is included in a LED display. SOLUTION: This device is a failure detecting device which is provided in a LED display 1 whose screen is formed by arranging the prurality of display panels 2 in which plural LED lamps 2a which are brought into conduction to the side of a power source are mounted and is provided with an electric circuit detecting the short circuit or disconnection or a LED lamp 2a as to respective display panels 2 and a display lamps 4a to 4i which specify a display panel 2 in which the LED lamp of a short circuit and disconnection is included and dispays it. Then, when the device detects the state of the short circuit or the disconnection of the LED lamp 2a, the user instant a checker knows in which display panel the faulty LED lamp 2a is included.
