The waterproofing material, laid e.g. from a roll on a supporting surface (S), consists of an impervious layer (2) and a reinforcing layer of felted synthetic fibres, e.g. glass fibres. The edges of adjoining sections are fixed to the supporting surface by micro-hook strips (4) of the type used for Velcro (RTM). A second strip (5) of a standard covering material is applied over the joint.
