PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp device and an illumination fixture using it that can increase an operation frequency of a lighting circuit within a range lower than a resonance frequency to contrive its miniaturization by comprising a discharging vessel of transmissive ceramic that can make the resonance frequency substantially of single and high mode. SOLUTION: The high-pressure discharge lamp device comprises the discharging vessel 1 of transmissive ceramic including substantially spherical surrounding part 1a whose sphericalness is 0.65 or more encircling a discharging space, a high-pressure discharge lamp 11 with a pair of electrodes 2 mounted to the surrounding part 1a, wherein a discharging medium is sealed with the lamp power of less than 50 W or less, and a lighting circuit 12 which turns on the high-pressure discharge lamp 11 with a high frequency of 40 to 80 kHz, most preferably 40.5 to 55 kHz. Because the surrounding part 1a of the discharging vessel 1 of the translucent ceramic has substantially spherical surrounding part 1a of with a predetermined sphericalness, the resonance frequency is substantially of signal and also high mode, thereby making the operation frequency of the lighting circuit means 12 high to remarkably miniaturize the lighting circuit means 12. |
