Boron-coated metal treatment - with oxidising complex in basic bath,esp for boron-tungsten fibres

Articles with a B-coated metal core are treated by dipping in a basic bath contg an oxidising complex. This treatment is esp. useful for B-coated W (fibres) giving a smooth bright surface and better, more uniform mechanical properties, esp. breaking strength. Pref. treatment comprises 10-30 sec. immersion in 10 wt.% K3Fe(CN)6 bath, pH ca 12, at 45-90 degrees C.
