PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce circuit scale and power consumption. SOLUTION: Concerning the received signal of 32QAM of a multilevel encoding modulation system, a level 1 BM calculating circuit 102 calculates the values of BM0 and BM1 of minimum square distances from respective identification points 0 and 1 among the identification points of level 1 corresponding to respective signal locations and a level 1 decoding circuit 103 decodes the level 1 on the basis of these BM values. Similarly, a level 2 is decoded by a level 2 BM calculating circuit 202 and a level 2 decoding circuit 203. Concerning a level 3, the location of the identification point is made similar to the identification point location of the level 1 so that the level 3 can be decoded by a level 3 decoding circuit 304 while substituting the BM value of the level 1 without calculating the BM value as level 3. Thus, the BM of high level is calculated by substituting the BM calculated result of low level so that a BM calculating circuit for high level can be unnecessitated. |
