PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which can hold adequate laser output in recording. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device 10 has an optical system 25 which splits the laser beam from a laser 8, irradiates the first track of a magneto-optical recording medium 1 with the main beam and irradiates the second track adjacent to the first track with the sub-beam, a magnetic head 27 which impresses the magnetic fields meeting the information to be recorded to the point irradiated with the main beam, a forming circuit 15 which forms the first and second magneto-optical signals MO (Main) and MO (Sub) meeting the main and sub beams which are reflected by the magneto-optical recording medium 1, an extrusion detecting circuit 21 which detects the extrusion of the point irradiated with the main beam from the first track in accordance with the second magneto-optical signal MO (Sub), a control circuit 23 which corrects the output of the laser 8 in accordance with the result of the detection and an information detecting circuit 30 which detects the information recorded at the magneto-optical recording medium 1 in accordance with the first magneto- optical signal MO (Main) in reproducing. |
