PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means, by which an optical marking line (a light irradiation line) under the direct rays of the sun can be detected with naked eyes, even when the optical marking line drawn on an object such as a pillar, a wall or the like by an optical marking device is hardly recognized visually under the direct rays of the sun. SOLUTION: An enclosure, a detecting window, a detecting-light generation device, e.g. an indicator (a group of light-emitting elements) and a detecting- sound generation device, e.g. a loudspeaker, constitute this detecting apparatus for an optical marking line. The rear surface and the back of the enclosure are formed preferably planar. The shape of the detecting window can be formed to be a circle, a polygon or a narrow-width rectangle. The eaves for light shielding can be attached to the detecting window. The indicator is formed in such a way that three light emitting elements (e.g. light-remitting diodes) are arranged transversely in a row. The number of the light emitting elements can be set generally at N pieces (where N>=1).
