PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration in the optical characteristics of a light spot for reading of a DVD-CD convertible player using a monolithic two- wavelength semiconductor laser element. SOLUTION: The laser element is the monolithic element having two light emission points emitting two laser beams varying in wavelengths on a single substrate. The main ray of the laser beam used for DVD reproduction is brought nearer to the optical axis Y of the optical system than the central axis of the laser beam used for CD reproduction or is aligned to the optical axis Y of the optical system. |
