PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and a control method of image-reading sequence for optimally reading the images in both positive and negative directions. SOLUTION: A 1st mirror stage 314 is once moved forward by an HP operation 1802 and then moved back and stopped at a position where an HP sensor is cut, and the stage 314 is accurately stopped at a stop position SP1. The stage 314 moves to a read preparatory position set in the negative position by an HP operation 1803. An ideal first sheet of negative position AE sequence is attained to read the entire surface of a set original without leaving any part via an AE scan of the negative direction, that is carried out by an HP operation 1804. When the variable power rate is varied, the stage 314 moves to a position where the next image is read by an HP operation 1805. Then the next image is read by an HP operation 1806. When this image-reading operation is finished, the replacement of originals is instructed and the stage 314 stops at a stop position SP3. The stage 314 moves to a position 1800 by an HP operation 1807. Then the stage 314 stops once and then stops again at the position 1800 for the next AE scan in the negative direction. The AE scan of the negative direction is applied in an HP operation 1808.
