PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which the quantity of exiting light from a bright display region of the liquid crystal element is increased to make the bright display sufficiently bright. SOLUTION: A plurality of recesses 10 are formed on the outer face of the back substrate 3 of a liquid crystal element 1, and these recesses 10 are filled with light-scattering particles 14. Thus a light-scattering layer 13 which consists of the stacked layer of the aforementioned light-scattering particles 14 and which has a rugged face facing the liquid crystal element 1 is formed on the back of the liquid crystal element 1. Light is effectively scattered by the light- scattering layer 13 to increase the quantity of the exiting light from the bright display region of the liquid crystal element. |
