PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet type release member which peels a recording sheet without damaging an image, the recording sheet, and a heating roll and is free from dew condensation. SOLUTION: This device has a hearting rotary member Fh for fixation and a pressing rotary member Fp for fixation which rotate while pressed against each other to form a nearly perpendicular contact surface and heat and fix an unfixed toner image on a recording sheet S passing upward through a fixation nip Q5 formed of the perpendicular contact surface and a sheet type peeling member 11 which is so arranged that the facing surface of the toner image facing the toner image on the recording sheet S discharged from the fixation nip Q5 is arranged upward; and the sheet type peeling member 11 has a sheet base material and a sheet base material coating film which covers the toner image facing surface side and tip of the sheet base material and the heat conductivity of the surface layer on the surface facing the toner image is <=1×10-2 cal/cm.sec. deg.C.
