<p>The web is wound onto a rotatable support mounted with its ends freely slidable in slots provided in a pair of vertical pivotal arms, the web build on the support resting on a driven roller whereby the build and support are rotated. After an initial build has been formed the arm's are pivoted to a horizontal position so that the ends of the support rest on a pair of slide rails and as the diameter of the build increases the ends of the support are gradually pushed out of the slots. As building continues the arms are pivoted back to the vertical position and a new support is inserted in the slots. Subsequently the web is cut and diverted to commence building on the new support. The device is used with non-tearable webs e.g. leather, plastic, etc. and allows continuous winding during doffing.</p> |
