PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit or reproduce the moving image of the face of a person on a transmitting side with a high-quality picture even when a medium of a limited capacity is employed. SOLUTION: This face image transmitting method includes a step for preparing, on a receiving side, a facial expression evaluating part 74 which receives voice emitted by a speaker and outputs a signal to estimate the facial expression of the speaker at the time of emitting the voice, a step for transmitting the voice emitted by the speaker from a transmitting side to the receiving side and giving it to the part 74 to obtain a signal for estimating the facial expression of the speaker, and steps (78 and 44) for generating the moving image of the facial expression of the speaker on the basis of the signal outputted by the part 74 for estimating the facial expression of the speaker.
