PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure position by referring to a magnetic field regardless of the existence of turbulence of the terrestrial magnetism or artificially generated magnetic field. SOLUTION: A position-measuring system PMA has a three-axis magnetism measuring means TMM, an inclination angle measuring means TAM and a rotational angle measuring means RAM. The generation source of turbulent magnetic field is assumed to be an arbitrary number of magnetic dipoles. At measuring points the number of which is more than three times plus two as many as that of magnetic dipoles, the magnetic field, its inclination angle and rotational angle are measured with the position measuring system PMA. From a condition that the sum of magnetic field of measurement standard and the turbulent magnetic field to be generated by the magnetic dipole and the magnetic field measured at each measuring point become equal, the position of one measuring point, the azimuth of the position measuring system at each measuring point, the position, size and azimuth of each magnetic dipole are calculated. |
