PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having high durability and a long service life, not causing image defects such as lowered density due to the rise of residual potential and the lowering of sensitivity over a long period of time and giving a high quality image free from blurring and running even in a highly humid environment and its production method. SOLUTION: A photosensitive layer and protective layer are successively disposed on the surface of an electrically conductive substrate to obtain the objective electrophotographic photoreceptor. The protective layer is based on a resin which polymerizing and cures when irradiated with light and the temperature of the photoreceptor in the irradiation is 25-130 deg.C. The protective layer is formed by applying a coating solution containing the resin as the principal component and curing the resin by irradiation with light. The temperature of the photoreceptor in the irradiation is 25-130 deg.C.
