PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of making the entire surface of a liquid crystal element to be in an erased state surely regardless of the construction of the liquid crystal element when the power source of the crystal device is turned off. SOLUTION: Electric charge consuming circuits Tr1, Tr2 are provided in a driving power source part 21 generating driving voltages for driving a liquid crystal element of the device and, also, when the power source is turned off, after the driving power source part 21 supplies prescribed voltage signals for completing the driving of the liquid crystal element to the liquid crystal element, the part 21 makes electric charges stored in the liquid crystal element to be consumed by actuating these electric charge consuming circuits Tr1, Tr2.
