The dispenser is for portion wise dispensing of toothpaste from an opening of a vessel or a toothpaste tube (3). The dispenser has a toothpaste container (2) which closely surrounds the tube (3). It also has a fluid container (20).. The toothpaste container has a passage (8) for insertion of a section of the tube. The dispenser has a pump (14) to convey the fluid from the fluid container into the toothpaste container.
