A method of treating an individual who is suffering from human immunodeficiency virus infection is disclosed. Methods of treating a human suffering from a disease characterized by high secretion of cytokines from macrophage cells and methods of reducing cytokine secretion are disclosed. The methods comprise administering an amount of ricin, abrin, modeccin, viscumin or volkensin effective to eliminate mononuclear phagocyte lineage cells. |
