The movement range of the actuator is limited by two or more stops, each defining a training position for the actuator. In order to train the actuator, one or more specific signals from the drive train are detected and supplied to a control device (10), where it is determined which training position the actuator will be trained in, based on the specific signals. The specific signals may include a gear information signal, a transmission speed information signal, and/or an engine speed information signal.
