<p>A gateway (100) comprises a communication interface (103) on a source terminal to transfer data to and from at least one source terminal (101); a communication interface (104) on a destination terminal to transfer data to and from at least one destination terminal (102); a band monitor (106) on the source terminal to monitor the transmission band for data transfer with the source terminal (101); a band monitor (105) on the destination terminal to monitor the transmission band for data transfer with the destination terminal (102); a storage (112) for storing data; a request manager (110) responsive to a request from the destination terminal (102) to determine the procedure of the request; and a data manager (109) for controlling the use of the storage and the method of data transmission based on the band information monitored by the monitor (106) on the source terminal, the band information monitored by the monitor (105) on the destination terminal, and the request from the request manager (110). Thus, transmission bands are efficiently used on both source and destination sides.</p> |
