The present invention discloses a new polypeptide-subunit 15 of human F1F0 ATP synthase and a polynucleotide encoding the same, as well as a method of producing the polypeptide by DNA recombinant technology. The present invention also discloses methods of using the polypeptide in treatment of various disease, especially in treatment of energy metabolism and material metabolism disorder, such as DOWN syndrome, BATTEN condition, Alzheimer's disease, some tumors, some genetic disease, blood disease, and immunological disease. The present invention also discloses an antagonist against the polypeptide and the therapeutic use of the same. The present invention also discloses the use of such polynucleotide encoding the subunit 15 of human F1F0 ATP synthase.
