METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR UPDATING USER INFORMATION MAINTAINED BY ANOTHER USER SYSTEM

A method and system to input, update and verify personal information (e.g., contact information) is facilitated by a network-based Personal Information Management (PIM) service (214). A requesting user of the PIM service identifies one or more entities (e.g., personal contacts) for which the requesting user requires updated personal information (212). The PIM service responds by issuing an update request to each of the entities (e.g., an e-mail containing a URL link). The Web page may provide an input with various fields for receiving the personal information concerning an entity. Upon submission of said input, the PIM service updates a server-based personal information collection for the requesting user. A PIM client (12) may also contain a collection of personal information (18) which is then synchronized with the server-based collection.
