Turbine for flowing fluid, especially a turbine having a vertical power outp ut shaft (1) and formed with several wings (4) projecting radially out from sai d power output shaft (1), which wings are rotatable over an angle of about 90~ about horizontal shafts (9) extending closely adjacent and along the trailin g edge (8) of the wing (4), as seen in the flow direction, so that said wings(4), in an operative, first position, are positioned at right angle to the flowing fluid (15) and in a second, non-operative position are located horizontally or nearly horizontally and on plane with the flowing fluid. Eac h wing (4) is formed with means (13, 14, 16) for catching, at a very early sta ge of an operation cycle, flow medium passing by and to thereby initiate a pressing down of the wing (4) to a position at right angle to the flow mediu m (10, 17, 18) for, as far as possible, maintaining the flow medium against th e wing (4) during the active moving path thereof.
