<p>Process for treating waste water from an industrial process for producing propylene oxide, which process comprises the steps of: (a) subjecting the waste water (1) to a multi-effect evaporation (2, 3) treatment resulting in a vaporous top fraction (6, 18) and a liquid bottom fraction (4, 5) containing the non-volatile contaminants; and (b) condensing at least part of the vaporous top fraction (8) into a liquid stream (10) which is subject to a stripping treatment (12) resulting in an overhead stream (15) containing volatile waste organic material and purified water (19) as the liquid bottom stream.</p> |
