The device (100) consists of a hollow central bar (10), accommodating a pushing rod (20) with a spike (30) positioned at the lower end, and several gripping elements (40,42,44,46,48) radial arranged around the central bar (10). Each of the gripping elements (40,42,44,46,48) can be rotated around two horizontal axles. For use the device (100) is placed on the green (80), the central spike (30) pushed into the ground, the gripping elements (40,42,44,46,48) moved into a gripping position until their pointed ends get in contact with the spike (30). The lower part of the device (100) is lifted, the gripping elements (40,42,44,46,48) rotated back into a resting position and the device (100) can be removed from the location.
