SUBSTANCE: distributor has case with spherical internal surface mounting a number of contacts with leads running to spark plugs and rotor installed inside case along its center line; rotor has current-distribution strip whose contacting surface arc angle alpha is enlarged compared with known angles and amounts to 0.5-10 of maximum angle found from equation , where L is length of contacting surface of rotor current-distribution strip; L1 is arc length between centers of surfaces of adjacent contacts on lid; delta is length of contacting surface of lid contacts; Δ1 is minimal gap between front (in direction of rotor movement) edge of current-distribution strip contacting surface and front (in direction of rotor movement) edge of lid contact just before contact closure that does not cause pre-ignition breakdown; Δ2 is minimal gap between rear (in direction of rotor movement) edge of current distribution strip contacting surface and rear (in direction of rotor movement) edge of lid contact when its opening breaks electric circuit; R is distance between rotor axis of revolution and contacting surface of its current-distribution strip and also to contacting surfaces of lid contacts. Proposed design provides for enlarging effective time of spark discharge across spark plugs.
