The invention relates to a method and to a device for decontaminating polycondensates such as RPET or similar polymer materials, especially granules derived from PET bottles. The aim of the invention is to simplify the recycling processes known in the art. To this end, the used PET articles are reduced to flakes and said flakes are cleaned. The flakes are directly and continuously decontaminated in the hot gas flow.
