METHOD FOR PREHEATING AN ENGINE AND DEVICE THEREFOR

The invention concerns a method for preheating fluids used for operating an internal combustion engine (1) provided with a coolant circuit and, in particular, for running a vehicle equipped with such an engine using diesel oil as fuel. Said method consists in, when the vehicle and its engine are stopped and by means of an external power supply or one integrated therein, circulating the coolant and charging a heating element (3) immersed in the liquid, at a site of the circuit outside the engine, so as to bring it and maintain it at a predetermined temperature, and to produce, between the coolant and the diesel oil a heat exchange to bring the latter and maintain it at a predetermined temperature. The invention also concerns a device for implementing said method.
