A method for mounting a servo cylinder to a mounting flange, with the cylinder block fitted either way round, has the mounting hole threaded (25a) to take a threaded insert sleeve (37) which has a thrust flange (37b) for the mounting bolt (36). The sleeve can be fitted either way round as required. The cylinder block is also provided with recesses (31a) to take position sensors (32) to control the action of the servo cylinder. For double, parallel cylinders the mounting holes are between the two bores.
