The treatment with the nitrogenous compound may employ a solution, suspension or paste of the said compound in a carrier such as water, acetone, alcohol or ether. The copper substrate may be in the form of sheeting, wire, coupons, or blanks. The treatment may be by immersion in the treating agent for from one minute to 4 hours. The poly (arylene sulphide) resin coating may be dbtained by the use of a slurry of the polymer in water or other liquid such as ethylene glycol, methyl alcohol or toluene, using fluidized bed techniques, or spraying a stream of the polymer entrained in a gas such as air on to the copper surface heated to a temperature above the melting or softening point of the polymer. The coating may contain 0.5-50% by weight of an oxide or sulphide of cobalt or molybdenum or an oxide of titanium.</p> |
