The time display device has a control unit (11), a clock source (12) and a display device (15) with 2 numerical time display elements (13,14), for hours and minutes. The control unit and the clock source are used for continuous switching of the numerical time display elements simultaneously between 2 alternate display modes, for indicating the minutes after the hour and the minutes remaining until the next hour. An independent claim for a time display method is also included.
