PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing range confirmation device for sewing machine capable of confirming the sewing range of an embroidery pattern to be sewed in an embroidery sewing machine as a sewing range having substantially a precise outer shape (periphery) in a short time. SOLUTION: This device comprises a memory means 13 for storing embroidery data consisting of a plurality of pieces of XY-directional moving quantity information in conformation to a plurality of stitches for forming an embroidery pattern, a bit pattern converting means for converting a bit pattern data by use of each stitch as XY coordinate information from the moving quantity information of the embroidery data, a pattern peripheral position converting means for detecting the peripheral bit of the embroidery pattern from the bit pattern data converted by the bit pattern converting means and converting it to the peripheral position of the embroidery pattern, and an embroidery frame driving means 7 for moving an embroidery frame 8 to the pattern peripheral position converted by the pattern peripheral position converting means.
