A vehicle characterised in that: a mechanical advantage means in the form of a toothed crown gear (20) is mounted rotatably on a steering means in the form of a steering column (22) which is connected to an axle (24) which interconnects the front wheels (14). The crown gear (20) has handles (26) which are configured to be engaged and urged by a user's hand in an operative propelling and steering condition of the wheelchair (10). An elongate drive means in the form of a multi-strand cable (28) having a bevel gear (30) at one end which is configured to engage complementally, and to be driven by, the crown gear (20) and a connector arrangement (31) at the other end to permit driving engagement with a gear assembly (32) for driving the rear wheels (16). |
