PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothbrush of which the bristle tip is easy to enter an interdental section, a periodontal pocket or an interdental triangular section, by which a cleaning effect for bacterial plaque accumulated between teeth or at the boundary between teeth and the gum, and hard to remove, is high, and the contact feeling to the gum is gentle, and the using feeling is excellent. SOLUTION: In this toothbrush, a synthetic monofilament 4 having a tapered section 5 on both ends is bent at the central section, and is flocked on the toothbrush head section 1. A synthetic monofilament 4 having a tapered shape, which is constituted in such a manner that bristle diameters d0.1, d1 and d3 at respective locations being 0.1 mm, 1 mm and 3 mm from the taper tip end are respectively set to rates of 5-35%, 35-60% and 60-90% to a bristle diameter D at the maximum base section of the synthetic monofilament, is used. The hardness of the bristle at a location of 0.1 mm from the taper tip end of the synthetic monofilament is set within 10% of the hardness of the bristle at a location of 3 mm from the taper tip end.
