A lightweight yet reliable radiator panel (12a) is provided for use on spacecraft (10). The radiator panel (12) includes at least one shield (22) positioned over a first surface (30), of the radiator panel (12), and pipes (26) for circulating a coolant from inside of the spacecraft (10) to the radiator panel (12). The pipes (26) are mounted between the panel (12) and the shield (22), and are located on the first surface (30) at a stand-off distance (28) from the shield (22).
