PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide equipment and method for treating tofu (soybean curd) waste water which are capable of sufficiently decreasing organic matter components and nitrogen components in the tofu waste water and providing space saving and cost reduction. SOLUTION: This method for treating the tofu waste water which removes the organic matter components and nitrogen components from the tofu waste water includes a stage for flocculating and separating suspended solids from the tofu waste water, a stage for removing the organic matter components in the tofu waste water by subjecting the tofu waste water to an anaerobic treatment and a stage for removing the nitrogen components in the tofu waste water by subjecting the tofu waste water to a nitrification and denitrification treatment. In such a case, the removal of the many nitrogen components in the tofu waste water is made possible by flocculating and separating the suspended materials from the tofu waste water. The organic matter components in the tofu waste water are removed from the inside of the tofu waste water by the anaerobic treatment and the nitrogen components are removed from the inside of the tofu waste water by the biological nitrification and denitrification treatment. The anaerobic treatment apparatus may be made smaller in size than in the case of the anaerobic tank alone and excess sludge may be made smaller than in the case of the aerobic treatment alone of the tofu waste water. In addition, the need for aeration is eliminated. |
