PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dyeing of a green rush which is very excellent in lightfastness, little in fading for a long period of time, and very high in a commodity value for a Tatami-omote (rush mat) or the like. SOLUTION: A method is provided wherein a rush just after reaping is made into a standing state, a rush height length is divided by each 1/2-1/4 into a plurality of stages, the rush is intermittently dipped into a dyeing aqueous solution containing an acidic dye and a dyeing auxiliary agent which color to a required color, and the dyeing aqueous solution is allowed to permeate inside a stem pith so that a time lag is generated from a root site to a tip to carry out the dyeing. This method is applied to the green rush which is within 24 hours from reaping, and a dyeing time is 5-24 hours. Further, a food dye is used as dyestuffs.
