PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save electricity by reducing consumption of stand-by power of a rice cooker when the rice cooker is not used, and to prevent troubles which may be generated in the effort of saving electricity by the rice cooker in the stand-by condition. SOLUTION: This rice cooker 1 comprises load parts such as an induction heating coil 5, temperature sensors 6, 8, etc., a drive circuit 46 for controlling the load parts, a power circuit 31 for feeding power to the load parts and the drive circuit 46, and a microcomputer 66 for controlling the load parts according to the operation of switches 41 and 42. The rice cooker 1 also has a power control circuit 35 for maintaining or stopping the output of electricity from the power circuit 31. When the microcomputer 66 judges that no load part is operated, the microcomputer stops the output of electricity from the power circuit 31. On the other hand, if either switch is operated when the output of electricity is stopped, the microcomputer 66 starts the output of electricity from the power circuit 31 and executes its own setting process after discriminating the operated switch.
