1301465 Unsaturated esters TORAY INDUSTRIES Inc 12 Aug 1970 [19 Aug 1969] 38755/70 Heading C2C Carboxylic acid unsaturated esters are prepared by reacting a conjugated diene and a carboxylic acid in the presence of a palladium catalyst and an alkali metal carboxylate. Preferred dienes are 1,3-butadiene, isoprene, chloroprene, 2-ethyl- and 2,3-dimethyl-1,3- butadiene. Suitable acids include mono- and dialiphatic carboxylic acids, tartaric acid, acrylic acid, cinnamic acid, benzoic acid, chlorobenzoic acid, p-nitrobenzoic acid, anisic acid, cyanacetic acid, glycine, naphthalene carboxylic acid, phthalic acids and benzene tricarboxylic acids. In Examples (1) 2,7-octadienyl acetate, 1-vinyl- 5-hexenyl acetate, (2) 3,6-dimethyl-2,7-octadienyl acetate and isomers (3) di-2,7-octadienyl phthalate, (4) di-2,7-octadienyl adipate, (5) di-2,7-octadienyl fumarate, (6) 1-vinyl-5- hexenyl and 2,7-octadienyl n-butyrate were prepared. |
