PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document preparing apparatus having a discrimination expressing function which does not need to confirm the properties of a diagram every time even when diagram data are difficult to be colored in an indicated color and to display on a plan and can confirm a color set up on the diagram easily on the plan, a discrimination expressing method, and a recording medium storing a program for expressing discrimination. SOLUTION: An apparatus has a discrimination expressing function including an object selecting means for selecting an optional object comprising characters and diagrams in an image area, a color property setting means for setting an optional color property for a selected object, a color information display process for displaying color information corresponding to the color property in the periphery of the object in the image area.
